Added cite to new study which found that the herbicide Atrazine, the use of which maps closely to the prevalence of obesity in the U.S., causes insulin resistance, weight gain and mitochondrial dysfunction in rats who get a lot concentration of it in their water. The weight gain is independent of diet, though a high fat/high carb diet leads to more weight gain.
