Page changed: Dangerous Drugs for People with Diabetes"
Added link to a new study showing that when patients taking a statin drug report serious known side effects doctors tell them the drug doesn't have side effects or otherwise ignore the report. This was true even when the side effect reported was one that can lead to severe problems--muscle deterioration.
Before you take ANY drug, you must read the prescribing information and if you can't understand it, post on an online discussion group until you do. Someone will explain it to you. Make sure you don't have any of the conditions that make taking your drug dangerous and make sure you know what the serious side effects are that have been reported for this drug.
Some of the common drugs prescribed to people with diabetes can be very dangerous!

Added Google Search Bar and Ad Page to Support Site
Page changed: Home Page
Added a Google search bar at the very bottom of the page. This site has gotten huge and it can be tricky finding things. So I hope the tool bar will help.
Page Added: Clickthrough to Support this Site
Quite a few site visitors have asked how they could support the site. I've decided to experiment by putting a separate page with Google Ads on it as an option for those of you who feel that way. Google will pay us a pittance if you clickthrough on each ad. Once! Repeated clickthroughs will trigger their fraud alarms. The ads only appear on this one page so that the rest of the site remains, as it has always been, ad free.

Information about Thiamine Deficiency and Benfotiamine
Page Changed: Supplements for Diabetes
Added reference to today's study described by the BBC that found thiamine deficiency in 76% of Type 1s and 75% of Type 2s and connected this with the possibility that this deficiency leads to microvascular complications. Added references to research published over the past couple years in Diabetes Care, Nature, etc. supporting the idea that supplementation with benfotiamine, a safe form of Thiamine, blocks damage by AGEs and improves neuropathy and retinopathy.
