New: Januvia Causes Serious Rash Side Effects

Page changed: http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/18538604.php Januvia

Added information just added to the prescribing information that Januvia can cause various rashes and in some cases a severe immune response causing major skin peeling.

You read it first here. I reported on Januvia-related rashes several months ago! At the time, doctors told their patients that the rash couldn't possibly be from Januvia.

Since Januvia messes with DPP-4 which is deeply implicated with immune response, it is no surprise it can cause a rash.

I am a physician, with newly diagnosed with
diabetes and sure enough Januvia causes a severe very pruritic maculopapular erythematous rash which has a predeliction for the elbows and the the extensor surfaces of the body for which even the most potent steroid creams don't help, and sadly there is very poor data and literature on this allergic reaction .Needless to say I had to stop taking this medication.

Do you have a reference for this? I have a patient that has a similar reaction.

You'll find this in the official FDA mandated Prescribing Information for Januvia under the "Warnings and Precautions" section.
